This year, the Washington Cattlemen's Association celebrated their 100th anniversary and a legacy of supporting the cattle industry in our state. We were honored to be presented with the association’s Centennial Award at the annual convention, alongside our friends Ron and Kay Nelson from Nelson Ranch.

Both families haven been ranching in Tenino for more than 165 years, although we do like to give the Nelsons a little bit of a hard time for being the "newcomers" since we arrived first in 1854 and their family followed a few years later in 1861. The fifth generation of kids in both families grew up in 4-H together showing at the Thurston County Fair, and to this day, both families are deeply involved in the community and local agriculture.

It’s a pretty special thing for Tenino to be home to the two oldest cattle ranches in the state still operated by descendants of the original founders. Today, you can purchase grass-fed, grass-finished beef directly from both ranches, just like families have been doing here for generations.

2025 Year In Review

In 2025, we expanded donations to a variety of community organizations and connected with more people to share how we use conservation practices to create the best possible environment for the native plants and endangered species that live at the ranch, as well as for our cattle.

Taste Washington Day at Local Schools

Schools across the state celebrated Taste Washington Day by highlighting the programs and people working to bring locally grown and raised food to schools for delicious and nutritious scratch-cooked school meals.
